The numbers in red are the recommended maximum run (in feet) recommended per single run without noticable voltage drop. Voltage drop, as seen below, is determined by the thickness (gauge) of the wire and the load (watts) placed on it. The longer the run, the lower the voltage when it reaches the fixture. Please follow the chart below to determine what you need to set up your low voltage wiring system. We never recommend placing more than 250 Watts on a single 12 Guage run, please use 10 Guage wire if doing so. The voltage chart below is to be used as a guide only. Please keep in mind that we are not licensed contractors and we always recommend consulting with a licensed electrical contractor before doing any electrical work. We recommend using a volt meter to determine exactly what voltage is running into your fixtures. We are not responsible for any damage that may result from the use or mis-use of this information.
